Dr. Fayek Farid Faragalla graduated with a B. Sc. degree from Cairo University, Egypt in 1946. He later spent four years of post-graduate studies at the Imperial College, London University, UK where he received his Ph. D. degree in 1955.
In 1957 he was elected as a Member of the first Parliament of Egypt after the 1952 revolution. He worked in different positions in the Government for twenty years, taking part in the development of the Egyptian Electric Power System.
In 1972 he was awarded the Order of Honor of the Republic and in 1983 the Order of Honor of Sciences and Arts.
At the age of 60, he had to retire, but continued working as a consultant in the electric power sector.
Dr. Farid is Distinguished Member of CIGRE and Chairman of the Egyptian Committee for CIRED. He is also Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Engineering, Ein Shams University, Egypt and Chairman of the Transmission and Distribution Sector, Council of Electricity & Energy Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
