Towards an improved definition, application and delineation of roles and responsibilities

In present times, expansion of Bulk Power Systems (BPS) has a number of multi-disciplinary challenges. Increasing environmental restrictions, uncertainty of the economic global cycles, fossil resources depletion, and new technologies for generation and use of electric energy, are important factors that affect reliability of BPS's. These factors coupled with increasingly strict policies and regulations, have motivated more detailed analysis of power system vulnerability in order to define actions to avoid system collapses.
