David Menendez

David Menendez is Technical Solutions Director covering projects within EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region for GE. He is passionate about Renewable Energy with a strong expertise in Wind Power. During more than 15 years within the Electrical Market he has been supporting the development of Renewable Energy from the very beginning. He is driving complex innovation projects focused on the integration of Clean Energy into the Electrical Power Systems. He is an active member of the IEC/CENELEC Technical Committee TC8X within WG5. David is vocal at the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification Technical committee AEN/CTN 217.

He has been recently nominated as Spanish regular member in the CIGRE working group WGB5.54 "Protection and Automation Issues of Islanded Systems during System Restoration/Black Start."

Mital Kanabar

Mital Kanabar works as a Lead product R&D application engineer in General Electric (GE)-Digital Energy at Grid IQ center, Canada. He has received a Ph.D. on power system protection & automation from the University of Western Ontario, Canada; and has over 5 years of industrial experience. He is currently vice-chairing IEEE PSRC WG C19 on PDC standard; and WG K15 on centralized substation P&C. He is an active member/contributor of many technical working groups at IEEE PSRC, CIGRE, NASPI, and IEC. Mital holds 5 international patents, is author of 20 journal/conference papers, and a book chapter.

Mital enjoys yoga, instrumental music, and occasional cooking of veggie cuisine in his spare time.


Dustin Howard

Dustin Howardwas born in Cairo, GA, USA. He received a B.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2008 and 2013, respectively, from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Howard's Ph.D. work focused on the short-circuit modeling of wind-turbine generators. He developed frequency-domain models of several wind-turbine generator types for use in protection system analysis and design. Dr. Howard gained extensive experience in the transient simulation, hardware implementation, and control of electric drives and power electronics. He joined GE Energy Consulting in 2013. Since then, his focus has been on modeling electric machines, motor drives, and power electronics for harmonic and sub-synchronous torsional interaction studies.

In his spare time, Dr. Howard enjoys scuba diving, skiing, golf, and spending time with his family.


Reigh Walling

Reigh Walling is the principal of Walling Energy Systems Consulting, LLC, where he provides his expertise in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and distributed generation technologies to utilities, developers and research institutions. Prior to founding this firm in 2012, he was with GE Energy Consulting for 31 years.

Mr. Walling received his B.S. and M.Eng. in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is a registered Professional Engineer (Minnesota). He is a member of CIGRE, Fellow of the IEEE, has authored over ninety papers and articles, and has been awarded thirteen patents.

In his spare time, Reigh enjoys exploring the world from high altitudes.
