Dear Alexander Apostolov,
I am a vivid reader of your PAC magazine. Beside all the other sections, the section I enjoy the most is about the persons who have worked in Protection area ("The Guru") for long time and have established themselves worldwide.
And for this section, can I propose to please consider "Charles Henville" to be included in one of your upcoming editions.

He is well known and is a great mentor to young engineers like me. If you require any information about him, please let me know and I would be glad to be of any assistance.
Whenever a new issue of your magazine comes out, I request my colleagues to lend me their copy to read. I was wondering if I can also be included in the list of subscribers.

Hope you and your team continue to bring forward this wonderful magazine with interesting articles.

PAC World:  Dear Amit,
Thank you very much for your comments and kind words. This is exactly the type of feedback and help that we need.

Regarding your proposal to have Charlie Henville as a Guru in one of the future issues – the answer is definitely “Yes.”  Charlie is a very well-known and an incredibly respected member of the protection and control community that has been actively involved with PAC World - by publishing articles in the magazine and presenting papers at the PAC World conference.

Regarding your last question - to receive the magazine you have two options:

  • The first one is to visit the web site and subscribe by paying the 25 USD annual fee. This amount helps with covering some of the costs of the magazine
  • The second option is to send us an article or to contribute in some way - this gives you a one year free subscription.

PAC World:  Your letter also brings me to the point of asking all our readers for their help.  We are not in a position to know who the Gurus in your country are. You need to tell us.  At this stage we are interested with a higher priority with the Gurus that are older than 65.  Please, send us an e-mail with their name, contact information (if available) and some information about why you feel they are a Guru.

Another thing you all can help us with is related to the Hobby section of the magazine.  We know that there are many people in our industry that are multidimensional people with different interests and interesting hobbies. So please look around, talk to your colleagues and friends at work or at different industry events and let us know if there is someone that would like to share what they love to do when not working.

In both cases, or to share anything else, please send an e-mail to editor@pacw.org

The reliable operation of the electric power grid is one of the main goals of our industry. One of the key requirements is the reduction of the duration of outages. There are many different ways that we can achieve this goal, with fault location being one of them.
