73rd Georgia Tech Protective Relaying Conference

73rd Georgia Tech Protective Relaying Conference

The event was held 1-3 May 2019 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, Atlanta, USA.
This specialized annual protection and control conference brings together every spring protection and control specialist predominantly from utilities in the Southeast of the country, but also manufacturers, consultants and some academics. The two and a half days conference program included forty-four papers selected by the technical committee and presented mostly in parallel sessions. The presented papers were an interesting mix of traditional protection topics and the latest developments of protection and control technology for transmission, distribution and generation applications. Impact of distributed energy resources, operation of protection under different conditions, cyber security, testing and IEC 61850 based digital substations were among the other paper topics.

A Real-World Experiences session provided a forum for short presentations on "real life" experiences, followed by a panel session dedicated to distributed energy resources.
As usual, after the end of the paper sessions, the participants visited the numerous hospitality suites and exhibition areas, where they discussed the latest protection, automation and control devices, systems, and tools.
