Alexander Apostolov

Alexander Apostolov received MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, aswell as Ph.D. from the Technical University in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has more than 30 years experience in the fields of power system protection, automation and communications. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Member of the Power Systems Relaying Committee. He is Chairman of the Relay Communications Subcommittee and is actively involved in many IEEE, CIGRE and IEC working groups. He holds three patents and has authored and presented more than 250 technical papers. Alex calls Los Angeles home, but when not in a plane he can be spotted at an airport, hotel or meeting room somewhere around the world. He plays tennis, rollerblades and likes good music.

Clare Duffy

Clare Duffy is a Chartered Engineer with over 12 years experience in the electricity industry. Ms. Duffy has an Honors degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, UK and has post-graduate qualifications in Finance and Management. She is a member of CIGRE and has authored several international conference papers on system protection and transmission-related topics. She has broad international experience gained from working on power system projects in many countries. Currently, Ms. Duffy is head of the Strategic Consultancy Group in ESB International, Dublin, Ireland. She enjoys jogging, yoga, traveling and stirring debate.

Christoph Brunner

Christoph Brunner graduated as an Electrical Engineer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 1983. He is President and Chief Technology Officer of UTInnovation in Zug, Switzerland. Before, he worked as a project manager at ABB Switzerland Ltd in the business area Power Technology Products in Zurich where he was responsible for the communication architecture of the substation automation system. He is Convenor of working group (WG) 10 and member of WG 17, 18 and 19 of IEC TC57. As a member of IEEE-PES and IEEE-SA, he is active in several working groups of the IEEE-PSRC. He is International Advisor to the board of the UCA International Users Group. Christoph is also a volunteer firefighter, likes sailing, hiking and good food and wine.

Jefferson Bronfeld

Jefferson Bronfeld is the Chief Engineer for Cadick Corporation, an electric power engineering consulting and training company. He has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in electric power engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a licensed professional engineer with two patents. Jeff has over 25 years experience in the power industry. Jeff makes his home in Binghamton, NY, where, when not working, Jeff tutors mathematics to local junior high and high school students and is active in the IEEE. When not being a nerd Jeff can be found playing the mandolin, fly fishing, or asking friends to take him sailing on their boat.
