Impact of Distributed Generation

Operating Distributed Generation [DGs] in parallel with utility distribution system is not without hazards that include overvoltages, overduty of distribution equipment and loss of relay coordination. DGs provide little support for the power system during stress condition. IEEE Standard 1547 which addresses interconnection protection fails to adequately identify and address the hazards discussed in this article.
