The XXI SNTPEE conference and exhibition is the largest technical event of the Brazilian electric power industry sector. The Convention Center of the Costao do Santinho Resort Spa was the spectacular venue of this national seminar on production and transmission of electrical energy.  It brought together professionals from various companies in the industry, research centers, universities, manufacturers and other interested parties.

This seminar aims to promote, through study groups, the exchange of information and technical and managerial experiences between companies and entities involved in the production and transmission of electric power, allowing the advance in quality, productivity and competitiveness of the national electricity sector.

The first edition of this important event was held in the year 1971 in São Paulo and since then fulfills a major role in the improvement of services provided by public and private companies to the Brazilian population, thus contributing to the development of the country. In 2011 Eletrosul acted as the Coordinator of the event, offering experts, technicians, managers, directors and other participants a cozy place for the different technical activities, surrounded by the beauty and charms of Florianópolis.
The event started with an evening opening session that included speeches by leading industry experts and was followed by a charged with energy musical program and a welcome reception in the exhibition area.

The paper sessions covered different aspects of the industry, several of them of specific interest to the protection, automation and control community:

• Electric power systems operation
• Protection, monitoring, control and automation of high voltage systems
• Information systems  and telecommunications for the electric power industry
• Technical aspects of system management and maintenance
• Electric  systems performance

Most of the papers were authored and presented by Brazilian experts, but there were also international participants in the event.
The national seminar was organized in multiple parallel sessions that made it sometimes difficult to make a decision of which session of interest to attend.
