CIGRE Session 2018

The 47th CIGRE Session was held 26-31 August 2018 in the Palais des Congres (Congress Palace), Paris, France.

This is one of the major global events for the electric power industry, which brought more than 3200 delegates and a total of more than 6600 specialists from all over the world. 

The official opening ceremony was held on Sunday, 26 August and included a keynote presentation on Future Electricity Markets and Business Models by Audrey Zibelman, CEO, Australian Energy Market Operator.

This was followed by a welcome reception - the first social meeting opportunity for all delegates and their guests.

The conference program on Monday started with the Opening panel on Global perspective of distributed generation impact on the bulk connected network. It was followed by a Workshop on large disturbances.

This year CIGRE has launched a new four-day program of tutorials that included the SC B5 tutorial on “Challenges and Solutions for the Maintenance of Fully Digital Substation” and was attended by close to 400 delegates.

Tuesday to Friday the main events in the program were multiple study committees Discussion Meetings arranged in parallel sessions each day, running also in parallel with Poster Sessions.

The Technical Exhibition was open for the participants and included more than 250 exhibitors, representing the leading and innovative global suppliers in our industry.

The main social event of the CIGRE Session was the Cocktail Reception at the City of Mode and Design.
