Power and Energy Automation Conference, (PEAC) Spokane, WA, USA

PEAC 2014 was held at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane, WA, USA.

Considering the conferences held in the past as the Western Power Delivery Automation Conference, this was the 16th edition of a conference organized by Washington State University (WSU).

The motto of this year’s conference was “Creating the Future of Power Automation”.

As usual the conference venue was the Davenport Hotel, a historical building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

What makes this conference unique is the fact that it is the only conference that brings together professionals from around the world to share knowledge about the intelligent automation and control of electric power transmission and distribution systems.

By providing a forum for education and networking, PEAC's mission is to facilitate the development and implementation of modern technology to improve the reliability, efficiency, and capability of today's power grid systems, and enable this critical infrastructure to achieve the ambitious vision of smart grids.

The conference program includes paper sessions that discuss case studies and pilot projects in smart grid, power grid automation, intelligent control, security, SCADA, networks and communications, including IEC 61850 and its applications.

One of the benefits of this conference is that there are no parallel sessions, which allows the participants to listen to and participate in the discussions of all papers.

In addition to the paper session, there was a fundamentals track that provides tutorial sessions on essential topics in power grid automation.
