IEEE PES ISGT 2014 Conference, Washington, D.C., USA

The Fifth Conference on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies 2014 sponsored by the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), was held at the Washington Hyatt in the District of Columbia, USA.
It was a forum for the participating specialists from universities, manufacturers, regulators and academics to discuss state-of-the-art innovations in smart grid technologies.

The conference started with a keynote address by Dr. Ernest Moniz, Secretary of the US Department of Energy, followed by a Plenary Session discussing the New Frontiers of Smart Grid - an executive panel that staged the tone of the conference by framing what the next decade of smart grid development will look like.
The conference themes for this year included emphasis on Resiliency, Microgrid, and Transactive Energy. The overall program included also plenaries, panels, papers sessions and tutorials by international experts on smart grid applications.

The Panel sessions were conducted in three parallel tracks each day. Paper sessions were conducted in two parallel tracks daily, while Tutorials were scheduled on the last day of the conference and were conducted in three parallel sessions in both the morning and afternoon tracks.
