International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection

APAP2013 was held 28 – 31 October 2013 in Jeju Island, Korea.

The International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection was held at the Hyatt Regency Jeju. The main goal of the 5th international conference was to establish global cooperation channels among researchers and engineers in the power system protection and automation field and allow them to share their experiences and knowledge.

In this fifth APAP, the technical program started every day with a keynote speech: Dr. Won from Korea presented KEPCO ESS Business Strategy, Rannveig Loken from Norway talked about current and future protection and automation issues related to CIGRE SC B5 and Boming Zhang from China covered Smart Grid energy management and operation control with supply-grid-demand synergy.

The conference program included different paper presentation formats:

  • Intensive oral sessions
  • Oral sessions
  • Poster session
  • Industry special session

Papers and panel discussions covered the latest advances in protection and automation technologies and triggered interesting discussions following the paper presentations.
The program also included a small exhibition, as well as several social and cultural events that allowed the participants to exchange ideas and get a feeling for the beauty of Jeju Island and the rich culture of Korea.

The conference banquet was held at the Cliff Garden of the hotel and included not only delicious food, but also performances by conference participants demonstrating their artistic skills.
