2014 South African Power System Protection Conference

The event was held from the 12th to 14th of November in Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference is held once every two years and the Power Delivery Engineering Division of Eskom, the South African electricity utility was once again the conference host, organizing it at the Gallagher Convention Center.   

The presented papers and their discussions help to enhance the technological knowledge base of the attendees and to stimulate interest in the subject of Power System Protection, and especially the impact of the advanced technologies on the field.  The conference program included thirty technical papers that were presented by authors from Africa, Europe and North America.  Each of the ten sessions included papers presentations followed by discussions at the end of the session.

Leading suppliers in the field of protection and control exhibited electric power system protection, communications, testing and other related equipment at the exhibition area next to the conference hall.  During the coffee breaks and the Cocktail Party the participants visited the exhibitors and discussed the capabilities of the advanced equipment and tools and their application in protection and control.

The goal of the conference is to provide a forum for discussion within the power system protection industry and to create the opportunity for valuable exchanges of ideas and experiences.
