Protection Automation and Control World Conference 2015

The Sixth Annual PAC World conference was held 29 June - 2 July 2015 in Glasgow, UK.

The event was held at the brand new Technology Innovation Center of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. It is Glasgow’s second university by age receiving its Royal Charter in 1964 as the UK’s first technological university. It takes its name from the historic Kingdom of Strathclyde.

The conference was preceded by a half-day IEEE PSRC Tutorial on “Communications Technology for Protection Systems” presented by Rene Midence and Dr. Alexander Apostolov.
The conference started with a Keynote address on “Industry Trends - Learning from the Past Going into the Future" presented by Dr. Damir Novosel, IEEE PES President-Elect, USA.

The three day conference program was mostly covered by oral paper sessions when the authors of the selected papers present the essential results from their projects and research in strictly controlled 15 minutes slots, followed by a discussion at the end of each six papers session.

PAC World is one of the very small number of conferences around the world that does not have parallel sessions, thus allowing all participants to listen to and discuss any paper presented at the conference.
The conference program also included an interactive poster session, as well as the now traditional “Ask the Experts” session when the participants were able to ask or discuss with the panelists any question of interest that they had.

The Conference Gala Dinner was at the Trades Hall of Glasgow.  Designed and built from 1791-1794 by the prominent Scottish architect Robert Adam, the Trades Hall of Glasgow is the ancestral home of the Trades House and the 14 Incorporated Trades. The dinner was followed by the awards ceremony for the traditional photo contest. The entertaining evening ended with lively traditional and modernized Scottish pipe music.

During the coffee and lunch breaks the participants visited the exhibition and discussed with the manufacturers’ representatives the latest developments and products in the PAC industry.
