CIGRE USNC Awards 2016

The CIGRE United States National Committee (USNC) annual meeting and the luncheon took place on 18 July 2016 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel and the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston, MA, USA. During the awards ceremony at the meeting, several members of the protection, automation and control community received prestigious awards for their contributions in the development and implementation of technologies related to the protection and control of high-voltage electric power systems..

Damir Novosel and John McDonald were the recipients of the USNC Attwood Associate Award which has been established to honor the contributions and memory of Frederic Attwood of the USA, who together with J. Tribot Laspiere of France foresaw the need for an international organization in the field of high-voltage power engineering and who became the first Chairman of the USNC upon the founding of CIGRE in 1921.

The USNC Philip Sporn Award was presented to Anjan Bose and B. Don Russel for cumulative contributions to the advancement of the concept of system integration in the theory, design and/or operation of large high-voltage electric systems in the United States.

John McDonald and Mark McGranaghan received the CIGRE Distinguished Member Award as a tribute to long-standing membership and active participation in and significant contributions to the development and work of CIGRE within CIGRE study committees and/or National Committees.
