ZIV Charging System Components

The growing global interest in electric vehicles and the fact that this year several manufacturers are introducing 100% electric cars on the market faces a significant challenge due to the lack of charging infrastructure. That is one of the reasons that suppliers and governments are working hard for solutions. ZIV’s PRV-S charging point has been specifically designed for outdoor and street parking applications. Its stylish design is well suited for the integration in modern urban spaces. Every safety aspect is covered to eliminate any possible electrical hazard. All ZIV PRV series are manufactured in non-electrically conductive materials respectful with the environment. The PRV-S standalone recharge point has a robust construction and can be deployed with a minimal public works effort. Both AC (single phase and 3-phase) and DC charging options are supported. The PRV-S includes both GPRS and low voltage PLC communication interfaces, and can be managed both from a special controller at the distribution substation, or over the Internet (GPRS), for remote user authentication and billing.

The system has a main central unit (PRV-M) and parking space units (PRV-P).

The PRV-M contains the Human- Machine Interface for authentication, user interaction, charging point selection, and payment. A single PRV-M device can monitor and manage multiple charging points (PRV-P).

The PRV-P unit is a small, convenient, robust unit which can be installed at every two parking spaces, serving up to 2 cars. This unit has a dual modular plug interface. Every plug has a separate light bar indicator for charging status feedback.

Two PRV-P units can be combined and mounted side-by side to provide service for 4 adjacent parking spaces.

When the user parks, the car must be plugged to the PRV-P charging point at the parking space. The procedure continues at the PRV-M, where the user must select the desired charging point (PRV-P where the vehicle is connected), to perform authentication and payment, initiating the charging process. The user always has information of the charging status at the local PRV-P device.
