SEAPAC 2017, Melbourne, Australia

SEAPAC 2017 was held 14 - 15 March 2017 at the Pulman Hotel in Melbourne, Australia.

The 6th edition of the South East Asia Protection and Automation Conference (SEAPAC) was hosted by the CIGRE Australia B5 Panel.  The goal of this conference held every odd year is to promote discussion and knowledge regarding issues of interest to the industry. It is an excellent forum for both regional and international participants to discuss and share thoughts and views on current industry best practice and emerging technologies.

The conference was opened by Mr Nino Ficca, Mr, Managing Director of AusNet Services and Chairman of CIGRE Australia, who delivered the keynote address on ‘Current Challenges and future pathways for the Industry’. This was followed by the two days program which included 35 high quality technical papers selected by the technical committee. Each paper session was focused on a specific topic. At the end of each session participants had discussions with the presenters on some topics of interest addressed in the presentations.
Many papers covered topics related to the IEC 61850 standard – GOOSE and its applications, testing, inter-substations communications and SCADA interfaces. Other sessions focused on distributed energy resources, PAC systems design and configuration, fault analysis.
