Protection Automation and Control World Conference 2016

PAC World 2016, Ljubljana, Slovenia

The Seventh Annual PAC World conference was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia 13 - 16 June 2016.

The conference venue was the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the University of Ljubljana and it was attended by protection, automation and control specialists from countries from all over the world representing utilities, suppliers, consultants and academia.
The conference was preceded on Monday by a half-day tutorial on "Wide Area Challenges in Modern Power Systems" presented by industry and academia experts from Slovenia. The tutorial and registration were followed by the welcome reception at the Main Building of the University of Ljubljana.

The conference opening Tuesday morning was followed by the keynote presentation. Dr. Iony Patriota de Siqueira, Brazil, who is the CIGRE Study Committee B5 Chairman talked about “The network of the future: a CIGRE perspective and contribution”.
Due to the large number of submitted abstracts and the fact that there are no parallel sessions, the conference program included three full days of paper sessions. Fifty eight papers were presented in ten sessions. At the end of each session there was a fifteen minutes discussion.

After the success in Glasgow, an interactive poster session gave an opportunity to the authors of poster papers to make short presentations, followed with interactive discussions with the participants at their posters.

As is already an established tradition, the Thursday afternoon session was an Interactive Session - Ask the Experts. Participants in the conference submitted some of their questions in advance or asked them directly, resulting in very interesting and lively discussions

During the coffee and lunch breaks the participants had a chance to visit the exhibition area and become familiar with the latest protection, automation and control devices and tools demonstrated by experts from leading global suppliers.
The conference gala dinner was held at the Ljubljana Castle. The awards ceremony for the photo contest followed the excellent food and entertainment that created a nice environment for the participants to make new friends and have fun.
