Alexander Voloshin has been granted the Distinguished Member award 2024 for B5 “Protection and Automation.” Every two years longstanding services to CIGRE are rewarded upon proposal from their National Committees. He has been the CIGRE SC B5 regular member from Russia 2016-2020, as well as the convenor of WG B5.70 Reliability of Protection, Automation and Control System (PACS) of power systems – Evaluation Methods and Comparison of Architectures.
Alexander Voloshin received the Specialist degree in relay protection and automation of power systems and the PhD degree in the field of adaptive automatic control of reactive power and voltage on substations from Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Moscow, Russia, in 2004 and 2011, respectively. Since 2019, he has been the Director of NTI Centre of Moscow Power Engineering Institute. He is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences
