Meliha Selak is the recipient of the 2025 IEEE PES Patrick P. Ryan Meritorious Service Award for contributions and leadership in global technical and educational activities and membership growth of PES in Chapters, the Governing Board, Technical Committees, and the Distinguished Lecturer Program. This award is named in memory of Patrick P. Ryan who served as PES Executive Director from 2007 to 2020.
Meliha is an electrical engineering graduate of Sarajevo University. After graduation she joined Energoinvest Corporation in Sarajevo in 1975. She then worked as a research and consulting engineer in the field of power system engineering on a variety of international projects. Prior to joining BC Hydro in 2000, she worked as a research engineer in the Power System Group at the University of British Columbia on Real-Time Power System Simulator (OVNI) in connection with EMTP.
