DBF-A: Distributed Busbar Differential Protection with Process Bus

DBF-A extends ZIV’s distributed busbar differential protection approach with a process-bus-based architecture for modern substations. Communication between central and bay units uses IEC 61869-9 Sampled Values and IEC 61850-8-1 GOOSE, with PTP IEC 61850-9-3 time synchronization and redundant Ethernet communications through HSR or PRP.

Designed for configurations of up to 24 bays and 4 busbars, DBF-A combines fast differential protection with a flexible distributed architecture which enables its application in both digital and conventional substations,

The bay units can also be used as feeder protection relays, making this solution very cost-effective for MV busbar differential protection
