Maciej Goraj

Maciej Goraj received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Warsaw University of Technology in 2000, 2001 respectively. After graduation Maciej moved to Spain and joined General Electric Company in 2001 where he worked in different positions. Maciej has been involved in the design and implementation of multiple communication protocols and has field experience as he commissioned network systems in high voltage substations. In 2009 Maciej joined

RuggedCom where he is currently working as Global Utility Market Manager.  He is a member of IEC TC57 WG10.

While not working Maciej likes to ride his mountain bike but recently he spends almost all his free time with his three children, Aleksander, Paula and Adriana.

James Ariza

James Ariza (M’03) received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia. He has extensive experience in the testing and commissioning of electrical schemes, performing power system studies and design, and electrical system fieldwork supervision.  He worked as field protection engineer and then as project manager at GERS, USA.  He previously worked with EPSA, an electric utility in Colombia and Fraunhofer IMBT an R&D technology center in Florida, USA. In 2005, James joined Megger, where he served as an application engineer. He presently holds the title of senior application engineer and is in charge of relay OEMs account management. He is an instructor of hands on seminars covering theory and practical application of IEC 61850. He is a member of IEEE and an active member of PSRC.

James favorite leisure activities include  photography and outdoor activities, especially hiking and biking in the country side. He also plays volleyball and follows with passion all the tennis grand slam tournaments. The picture shows James and his wife Roxana biking in the Niagara Falls area.

Rene Aguilar

Rene Aguilar received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has extensive experience in testing and commissioning of electrical schemes as well as performing power system studies. In 2005, he joined Megger as an Application Engineer in the technical support group. He is in charge of developing custom applications for numerical protection relays. He is currently testing and developing the IEC 61850 implementation on the Megger products as well as multi-vendor device applications of IEC 61850.
Rene is a member of IEEE and an active member of PSRC.

In his spare time, Rene enjoys playing bajo sexto - a twelve string guitar used to play northern regional Mexican music. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids (a 2 year old boy and a 5 year old girl.) Rene likes playing sports, fishing, and being outdoors.

Pratap Mysore

Pratap Mysore received his BE and ME degrees in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He has been with Xcel Energy since 1987 and is currently a consulting Engineer (in-house position) in the Substation/ Transmission Engineering group.  Prior to joining Xcel Energy, he was with Brown Boveri Corporation (now ABB) and Tata Electric Companies in India. Pratap is actively involved in the standards development work through IEEE PSRC. He is the chair of Substations subcommittee, chair of the working group revising Shunt capacitor protection guide and member of several working groups within PSRC.  With over 30 years of experience in the field of protection and control of power system equipment, Pratap has shared his knowledge and experience with others in the region by presenting papers and offering short courses on power system protection sponsored by University of Minnesota.

When not working on relaying and protection, Pratar spends time learning and listening to south Indian classical and folk music.
