Rene TROOST (NL) was granted the 2024 Distinguished Member Award for CIGRE SC B5 “Protection and Automation”. Every two years, CIGRE recognizes individuals for their longstanding contributions with the “Distinguished Member” award, upon recommendation by their National Committees. Troost serves as a grid strategist at Stedin, a major distribution system operator (DSO) in The Netherlands. Since 2020, he has been the regular member representing The Netherlands in CIGRE SC B5. Additionally, he actively contributes to IEC TC57 Working Group 10. He earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial automation from Avans University in 2010, followed by a post-bachelor qualification in management and business from Avans in 2013. Since 2024, he has been a member of the PAC World Advisory Board.
