
The event was held 23 – 26 June 2025 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.
This was the fourth time the conference was held at the Technology and Innovation Center of the University of Strathclyde. It was attended by protection, automation and control specialists from countries from all over the world representing utilities, suppliers, consultants and academia.

The conference was preceded on Monday by a half-day tutorial on “Digital Transformation of PAC Systems ” presented by Dr. Alexander Apostolov, USA. It focused on the digitization and digitalization of PAC systems and the role that IEC 61850 plays in the digital transformation. The impact of artificial intelligence was also covered.
The tutorial and registration were followed by the welcome reception that was held as usual in the Glasgow City Chambers in the city center.
The conference opening Tuesday morning was followed by the Keynote address from Rannveig Loken, CIGRE Vice-president Technical who talked about CIGRE strategic direction and technical focus.
The conference program included two and a half days of paper sessions.



More than fifty papers from all continents were presented in nine sessions. The end of each session was a fifteen minute discussion of the presented papers.
PAC Demo Hour+ at the Exhibition Areas after the last paper session on Tuesday provided an additional opportunity for participants to visit the exhibitors and discuss the latest technology. As is already an established tradition the Thursday morning session before the lunch break was an Interactive Session – Ask the Experts. Participants in the conference submitted some of their questions in advance or asked them directly during this interactive session, resulting in very interesting and lively discussions on various topics of interest.
During the coffee and lunch breaks the participants in the conference visited the exhibition area to see demonstrations of the latest protection, automation and control devices and tools by experts from leading global suppliers.

The conference gala dinner was held at The Platform, located under the historic arches of Glasgow Central Station, combining the station’s rich history with modern elegance.
The awards ceremony for the photo contest followed the excellent food and entertainment that created a nice environment for the participants to make new friends and have fun.
