The Chair of a CIGRE Study Committee (SC) is elected by the Administrative Council upon recommendation of the Steering Committee.
This recommendation is based on a report by the Chair of the Technical Council who seeks the advice of the retiring Chair and the opinion of regular members.
Rannveig Løken from Norway was the Chair of SC B5 from 2018 to 2024. Volker Leitloff from France was appointed as Chair of SC B5 from August 2024 and is elected for a term of four years, which may be extended for a further two years.
The Swiss bell handed over to the new SC B5 Chair is used to ensure that contributions are kept within the given timeslot.
