CIGRE Symposium 

The event was held from September 29 to October2 2025 in Montreal, Canada.

The CIGRE Symposium was held at the Palais des Congres de Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The topic of the conference was Grid Enhancement, Strategic Planning, Technological Innovation and Climatic Adaptation for Resilient Future Energy Systems. More than 1800 participants attended the symposium.

The conference had tutorials, Workshops and paper presentation all the days. There was a Women in Energy (WiE) breakfast and WiE panel on the 1st of October in addition to Opening ceremony and Business panel. The next day started with CEO breakfast, Keynote, CTO panel and Next Generation Network panel. The last day of the conference had Keynote, CTO panel, regulatory panel and finished with the closing ceremony with awards.

There was a joint Workshop between SC A3 and SC B5 where digitalization of switchgear, implementation experience and integration with the protection world were presented and discussed.

In SC B5 Protection and automations there were 5 sessions with paper presentation between 1st and 2nd of October. 

The Scope of SC B5 was introduced at the beginning of the first session. Papers were presented related to fault location, autoreclosing, controlled switching and wide-area measurement. 

In other sessions papers related to experience with fully digital PACS, line protection, renewable energy & apparatus protection and commissioning, testing, setting and configuration were presented.

The Gala dinner was held in the Palais des Congres de Montreal, and artists showed what is not possible for normal engineers during the dinner.
