Subrahmanyam S. Venkata is the 2024 Recipient of the IEEE PES Lifetime Achievement Award “for commitment to IEEE and lifelong pioneering contributions to practical implementation, planning, and automation of electric transmission and distribution.”
Subrahmanyam S. Venkata is President of Venkata Consulting Solutions LLC. Currently an Affiliate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with the University of Washington (UW), Seattle, where he taught since 1979. He was with GE Power/Alstom Grid Inc. from January 2011 to
September 2017. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE. At the IEEE level, he served as a member of the IEEE Fellows Committee for six years.
He also served on the PES Board as Vice-President, Publications PES during 2004-07.
In 1996, he received the IEEE PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award, the IEEE Millennium Award in 2000 and in 2015 – the IEEE PES Douglas M. Staszesky Distribution Automation Award.
