B11Working Group Report:  SC21 and P1547:  numerous standards are under review and/or development including most parts of IEEE 1547.  Active projects are underway for several parts of IEEE 2030.  Contact Ben Kazimier and Sean Carr if you have interest in participating. There is a new SC21-Sponsored IEEE Industry Connection “Electric Energy Resources Interconnection Standards Collaborative (ISC).  The ISC encourages collaboration across IEEE Committees managing the development of standards for the interoperability and interconnection of distributed energy resources (DERs) with the grid and the entities that reference and apply these standards. The goal is to deliver IEEE 1547 standards to ready DERs with capabilities that enable future utilization with increasing DER penetrations and to support industry stakeholders in the adoption of these standards. The ISC is open to any stakeholders with subject matter expertise or strategic interest.

Standards Coordinator’s Report:  PSRC Standards-65+ Standards, 35+ Active PARs.  These standards impact product designers and manufacturers. A new O&P manual will be adopted.

NERC Report: A new definition for “Protection Systems” is under review (PRC-005-7.  Disturbance monitoring and reporting requirements for inverter-based Resources, the new PRC-028-1 is being developed. PRC-019-3 draft for coordination of generating unit or plant capabilities, voltage regulation control and Protection, is being reviewed for comment.  PRC-023-6 Transmission relay loadability is under review.  And several joint NERC and Staff reports are now available Panhandle Wind Disturbance, 2022 Odessa Disturbance, and 2023 Southwest Utah Disturbance.

Renewable Systems Integration Coordinating Committee Report: The role of RSICC is to serve as a focal point within the PES, to identify challenges associated with the integration of renewable energy resources, related energy carriers (storage, fuels, heat) and related electrification applications (transportation, buildings, industry.) RSICC is leading the drafting of PES road map chapter one – renewable integration.

Specific PSRC Subcommittee updates will be in the next issue of PACWorld.
