At SOC-E, cybersecurity is a core pillar of the next generation of digital and virtual substations. The technology portfolio already includes the capability to implement MACsec, enabling secure Ethernet communications through link-layer encryption, authentication and integrity when required by the application. This is especially relevant in IEC 61850 environments, where cybersecurity must coexist with low latency, determinism and high availability. Looking ahead, SOC-E’s R&D team is actively exploring quantum-resilient security technologies, including Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). This forward-looking approach reinforces SOC-E’s position as a pioneering technology partner for critical power infrastructure.
