SISCO’s R-GOOSE Gateway allows the user to interconnect IEC 61850 IEDs using traditional Ethernet multicast GOOSE on Ethernet station bus with Routable GOOSE (R-GOOSE) running over wide area IP Multicast networks for wide area applications. The IP Multicast profile of IEC 61850-8-1 Ed2.1 (IEC TR 61850-90-5) supports GOOSE communications over Wide Area Networks (WAN) using readily available router and VPN technology for secure wide area applications:
- Interface existing Ethernet multicast GOOSE publishers to IP multicast R-GOOSE subscribers
- Interface IP multicast R-GOOSE publishers to existing Ethernet multicast GOOSE subscribers
- Wide area protection, Centralized Remedial Action Systems (C-RAS) and protection monitoring
