The 10th Annual Canada Protection Symposium (CPS) was held at the Toronto Marriott City Centre Hotel in Toronto, Canada. Building on the success of previous years, CPS continues to serve as a key industry platform focused on emerging technologies and practical solutions in protection, automation, and control within the electric power sector.
The 2025 program featured expert-led technical sessions covering protection and control applications, IEC 61850 process bus implementations, digital substations, advanced testing techniques, and cybersecurity considerations. Additional highlights included discussions on integrating distributed energy resources (DERs), grid modernization strategies, microgrids, and the growing role of data analytics and AI in power system operations. Real-world utility case studies provided valuable insights into implementation challenges, lessons learned, and best practices.

The symposium also included an exhibition area where manufacturers and technology providers showcased their latest solutions and innovations. During scheduled networking breaks, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with experts, exchange experiences with peers, and explore new technologies.
The event concluded with a networking reception, fostering professional connections in a relaxed setting. Attendees were eligible to receive Continuing Technical Development (CTD) credits or Professional Development Hours (PDHs), further enhancing the professional value of this well-established industry event.
