IEEE PES International Meeting (PES IM)

The 2026 IEEE PES International Meeting (PESIM 2026) took place 18–21 January 2026 in Hong Kong SAR, China, marking the first time this power and energy engineering event was hosted outside North America. Co-organized by the IEEE PES and the Research Centre for Grid Modernization at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the meeting convened leading engineers, researchers, industry executives, and students under the theme “Global Power and Energy Systems Resilience: Leveraging Collaborative Expertise.”

Pre-conference activities on 17 January included the Women in Power (WIP) Session: REpower 2 — Revolutionize Sustainable Energy Future, setting the stage for a robust technical program. The official program featured tutorials on topics such as power system resilience, AI-driven decarbonization, HVDC systems, digital transformation with IEC 61850, and electromagnetic transient simulation, providing participants with insights into current and emerging technologies.

The core conference sessions highlighted a diverse range of themes including resilient grid infrastructure, modern power system operations, decarbonization strategies, digital transformation, and energy market policies. PESIM 2026 also offered networking opportunities facilitating collaboration across academia and industry. The event underscored global cooperation in advancing resilient, sustainable, and intelligent power systems.

Attendees engaged in panel discussions, poster sessions, and best paper presentations that explored challenges and solutions in the rapidly evolving energy landscape.
