Hybrid Centennial CIGRE Session 2021

This unique Virtual Centennial Session was held between 18 and 27 August 2021.

Due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic a special Centennial Session scheduled for August 2021 in Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of CIGRE was replaced with a unique Virtual Centennial Session.

It combined virtual presentations of remote participants from all over the world with live broadcasting from five studios at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France.

The session was opened with an Opening Panel focused on Renewable Electricity for Climate Neutrality: Challenges and Opportunities.

For B5, the Technical Discussion Meeting took place on 24th and 25th of August with two preferential subjects:

  • PS 1 Human Aspects in Protection, Automation and Control Systems (PACS)
  • PS 2 Communications Networks in Protection, Automation and Control Systems (PACS): Experience and Challenges

B5 also hosted a live tutorial on the subject of “Protection, Automation and Control of the Evolving Grid”.

The women in engineering forum was held on the 23rd August 2021 under the theme “Energy transition over the next 100 years” looking at the future of energy and how women will lead the change.
