Fred Steinhauser

Fred Steinhauser studied Electrical Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology, where he obtained his diploma in 1986 and received a Dr. of Technical Sciences in 1991. He joined OMICRON, and worked on several aspects of testing power system protection. Since 2000 he worked as a product manager with a focus on power utility communication. Since 2014 he is active within the Power Utility Communication business of OMICRON, focusing on Digital Substations and serving as an IEC 61850 expert. Fred is a member of WG10 in the TC57 of the IEC and contributes to IEC 61850. He is one of the main authors of the UCA Implementation Guideline for Sampled Values (9-2LE). Within TC95, he contributes to IEC 61850 related topics. As a member of CIGRÉ he is active within the scope of SC D2 and SC B5. He also contributed to the synchrophasor standard IEEE C37.118.

Fred enjoys recreational activities like hiking and biking – with the muscle powered bicycle and the motorcycle.  Another passion is restoring vintage electronic equipment in his home lab.

Christoph Brunner

Christoph Brunner is the President of his own independent consulting company it4power LLC based in Switzerland. He has over 25 years of experience with knowledge across several areas within the Utility Industry and of technologies from the Automation Industry He has worked as a project manager at ABB Switzerland Ltd in the area of Power Technology Products in Zurich / Switzerland where he was responsible for the process close communication architecture of the automation system. He is Convener of WG 10 of the IEC TC57 and is a member of WG 17, 18 and 19 of IEC TC57. He is senior member of IEEE-PES and IEEE-SA. He is an IEEE Fellow and is active in several working groups of the IEEE-PSRC and a member of the PSRC main committee and the subcommittee H. He is advisor to the board of the UCA international users group.  

Christoph is a volunteer firefighter, he likes photography sailing, skiing, hiking and good food and wine.

Yannan Sun

Yannan Sun is a Principal Data Scientist at Oncor Electric Delivery. She is currently in Distribution Operation Center Technical Support Group, and previously in Maintenance Strategy and Transmission Planning. She has contributions in many data analytics use cases at Oncor by providing insights, designing data-driven approaches, and implementing machine learning algorithms. She is also an expert on process improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools. Prior to Oncor, she was a Senior Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the Electricity Infrastructure group for 7 years. 

Dr. Sun is the previous Chair of the IEEE PES Subcommittee on Big Data & Analytics for Power Systems.

Yannan loves nature and likes spending time in picturesque surroundings.

Janos Pattantyus

Janos Pattantyus – has worked for more than 28 years, as rotating equipment specialist in machinery protection, vibration analysis and predictive maintenance.  Janos holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from McGill and a master’s degree from Ecole Polytechnique. He is certified category 4 in vibration analysis and a licensed engineer in the province on Quebec.  He also has more than half a dozen publications to his credit, as well as many presentations. Janos is an active member and leader of the international working group IEC 61850 Dynamics Modelling Joint Task Force.  Janos works currently in the instrumentation and mechanical protection systems team within the Hydro-Quebec automation expertise department.

In his leisure time Janos enjoys cross-county skiing accompanied by his dog.
