Power and Energy Automation Conference (PEAC)

The event was held 2 – 5 March 2020 at the Seattle Airport Marriott hotel near Seattle, Washington, USA.

The theme of the conference this year was “Advancing the Grid: Data to Automation to Resilience”, while the theme of the Energy Summit was “Grid Resilience: The Intersection of the Utility Business Model, Regulatory Policy, and Incident Response.”

The conference started with a Keynote: Key Success Factors for Sustainable Electrical Energy Delivery presented by Dr. Damir Novosel (Quanta Technologies)

The conference was organized in half-day paper sessions in which the paper presentations were followed by discussions. Papers were focused on IEC 61850 and its applications, cyber security, integration of renewable energy resources. The Fundamentals track running in parallel with the paper sessions gave an opportunity to some of the participants in the conference to learn about utility communications and communications protocols.

An exhibition in the coffee breaks area allowed the participants to discuss with the exhibitors during the breaks and after-hours reception the new devices and software tools for power systems automation.
