The 9th Annual Conference, Exhibition & Networking Forum IEC 61850 Week took place 14-18 October 2022 in Cardiff, UK. The Parkgate Hotel was the conference venue.
This year the theme of the event was Leveraging virtualization and centralization to drive the large-scale deployment of IEC 61850 across the smart grid with the program extended to a full week.
The conference was preceded by a one-day workshop on IEC 61850 System Specification designed to assist utilities in developing the advanced specification skills they need to ensure they remain in the driving seat of the end-to-end IEC 61850 implementation process.
This was followed by three days of presentations mostly focused on the next generation virtualized and centralized architectures, adopting automated engineering and testing procedures, and applying innovative solutions such as digital twin to support cybersecure remote testing and maintenance.
All of this and was addressed in more than twenty utility case-studies, three technology innovation panels and a series of intimate roundtable discussions.
A solution zone displaying state-of-the-art IEC 61850-enabled products and services was available to the participants to see demonstrations of IEC 61850 related devices and tools.,
