ISGT-LA was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico Sheraton Hotel at the T-Mobile District and was hosted by LUMA Energy – the local utility.
It was the first time when an event sponsored by the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) was held on the island.
The theme of the conference was “Disaster recovery and network transformation in times of climate change,” – reflecting the fact that the electric power system is facing issues arising from the operation and control of smart grids.
The technical program of the conference was preceded by three half-day tutorials on topics related to the conference theme. The conference opening was followed by a Keynote Super Session “Grid Transformation and Resilience: Are We There Yet?”
The technical program was composed of impressive plenary super sessions in the three mornings plus short keynotes in the morning as well.
Afternoons were packed with 20 panel sessions in the first two afternoons. All papers accepted for the conference were presented as posters at the end of the first day.
The social program included a conference networking reception following the tutorials, a reception during the poster session and the conference gala with entertainment. The coffee and lunch breaks provided additional networking opportunities.
