74th Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers

The 74th annual conference protective relay engineers hosted by Texas A&M University was held as a virtual event 22nd to 25th of March 2021 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It was preceded by a day of pre-conference activities organized by some of the participating manufacturers.

The papers accepted for presentation at the confidence by the organizing committee as usual were grouped in concurrent sessions focused on specific areas such as distribution, transmission, substation and generator protection. Utility challenges, testing of protection and control devices and systems, communications nd cyber security issues were also discussed. A number of papers were focused on IEC 61850 and its applications, thus demonstrating the growing interest in the use of the standard in the United States.

Real World Experiences is also a session of special interest, because it gives an opportunity to utility engineers to share their experience from protection devices and systems operations and their analysis.

All paper sessions were accessible live from the agenda online. Post-session discussions took place in the networking lounge and participants could also visit the conference sponsors in the Sponsor Hall.

Each paper session had an associated networking lounge which were used for post-session discussions. Both live and recorded presentations could be accessed through the “breakout sessions” link inside the virtual event website.
