The SEL-TWFL localizes faults and early traveling-wave activity in power lines, monitors two lines from one substation and is suitable for radial, two- and three-terminal applications. It works with series-compensated, overhead, cable and hybrid power lines. For multi-ended fault-locating methods, it exchanges data via C37.94-compliant communications channels or communications protocols over a SCADA network.
The SEL-TWFL collects data from up to six currents and voltages for up to 1.2 seconds at a 1 MHz sampling rate with 18 resolution bits. It provides information to analyze high-frequency transients from faults, fault precursors, switching events, breaker restrikes and self-extinguishing faults.
