The event was held May 6 to May 9, 2024, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, USA
This year IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition was held under the theme “Accelerate the grid of tomorrow.” It is a combination of a conference and exposition which makes it perfect in an effort to help the industry in a time of significant changes of the electric power grid.
The conference started with an opening session followed by a fireside chat with Nobel Prize winning economist Michael Spence to discuss the critical decisions facing the global energy future, and the hurdles that must be addressed to build the clean energy grid of tomorrow.
During the discussion, led by IEEE PES President Shay Bahramirad, Spence addressed how the energy industry must identify how to reach an array of critical climate change goals, as well as equity and affordability challenges of intensive capital required to adapt and mitigate the impact of climate change.
The program included a line-up of super sessions, panel discussions, paper forum sessions, poster presentations and tutorials that brought together technical experts and technology leaders to discuss the most critical issues facing our industry. Papers and presentations covered a wide range of topics. Especially interesting were the discussions on the digitalization of our industry and the role of artificial intelligence in its future.
The social program included the conference opening reception at the Disneyland Hotel on Monday Poster Session Reception, as well as a networking reception on Wednesday in the exhibit hall.
