TechCon North America 2021

TechCon Conferences and Seminars is an annual event dedicated to the discussion of technology advancement and maintenance of the aging electrical grid infrastructure. The 2021 North America event was scheduled to be held at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, Orlando, USA. However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions in travel for members of our industry it was changed to a virtual event that was held 2-4 February 2021 in the cloud.

The opening of the conference was followed by several presentations focusing on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the electric power utility industry and how it is dealing with it. A panel involving representatives from three utilities addressing the same topic was included later in the program.

The conference also included presentations related to the future of communications for substations and advanced approaches to power transformer asset management.

The second day of the program included several presentations related to artificial intelligence and its applications to the electric power grid. This was followed by a panel session in which invited experts discussed futuristic learning tools.

Before the start and after the end of each day’s program the participants were invited to visit the virtual learning suites in two tracks running in parallel.
