The IEC Week was held 16-20 October 2023 at the Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport hotel, The Netherlands. This year the theme of the event was “Overcoming the cost and complexity of implementing IEC standards to fast track the deployment of the smart grid”. It was a 5-day conference, exhibition and networking forum.
The conference was preceded by three optional one-day workshops on Fundamentals of IEC 61850, IEC CIM and IEC 62443 designed to assist participants in learning in more detail about one of the three IEC standards.
This was followed by three days of implementation case-study conference and exhibition. It was also organized in three parallel tracks, each of which covered one of the IEC standards. The IEC 61850 track covered advanced applications within the substations, inter-substation, to the control center and DER assets.
The IEC 62443 track focused on customized applications to drive robust cyber risk management across the power grid end-to-end.
The IEC CIM track was dedicated to extended applications for operational systems, inter-utility and with a range of flexibility market players.
All of this was addressed in many utility case-studies and technology innovation panels, as well as in a series of intimate roundtable discussions. A solution zone displaying state-of-the-art IEC enabled products and services was available to the participants to see demonstrations of related devices and tools.
A Networking Reception was an ideal opportunity to relax with all participants after an intensive day of presentations and discussions.
